Our History
A legacy of service and compassion
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Sindh District Branch, Hyderabad, has a long and rich history of humanitarian service. Established in 1962, this branch has grown from humble beginnings as a small dispensary to becoming one of the most vital humanitarian organizations in the region.
In its early years, the Hyderabad branch focused on providing basic medical care to the local population, addressing the pressing health concerns of the time. With the support of dedicated volunteers and generous contributions from philanthropists, the branch expanded its services to meet the growing needs of the community.
Over the decades, the branch has evolved into a comprehensive healthcare and emergency response organization. In addition to its original medical facilities, it now operates the 150-bed General Hospital in Unit No. 06, and the 80-bed Red Crescent Institute of Cardiology and General Hospital in Latifabad, as well as a dispensary in Qasimabad. These healthcare centers provide vital services to thousands of patients each year, regardless of their background or financial status.
Throughout its history, the Hyderabad branch has been at the forefront of disaster response and recovery efforts. From floods and earthquakes to public health emergencies, the branch has always been quick to mobilize its resources and provide aid to those in need, staying true to the principles of the Red Crescent Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, and Independence.
Today, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Sindh District Branch, Hyderabad, continues to build on its legacy of service, adapting to the changing needs of the community while staying rooted in its commitment to helping those most vulnerable. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the branch remains a pillar of hope and care for the people of Hyderabad and beyond.
